Question of the day: “What are some key tips you would give for an interview?” 

Answer: DON’T GET LOST TALKING ABOUT STUFF THAT DOESN’T PERTAIN TO YOU!

Think of your interview as driving down the highway.  You have directions and you want to make sure that you take the right exits off the highway to make it to your destination.  Whether the destination is a job, a scholarship, or a crown you don’t want someone else to get there first.  You can’t afford to get lost! 

There are three exits that you need to always count on because they guarantee to get you to your destination.  These three exits are your core values.  The things that you don’t want to leave without telling the people that are conducting your interview.

For example:  My core values spell out TAP (easy to remember because I tap dance).  I will not leave the meeting until I have told the interviewer that I am a Total package, I have the right Attitude, and I am Passionate about why I am there. 

Once you have decided on the three things (yes, it can only be three – they won’t remember any more than that and you probably won’t either), you then begin to fill in the details about each one with your accomplishments, interesting facts, etc. 

This process will begin to create your interview road map.  Just like a GPS, you don’t want to deviate from this map.  It will take you to your destination - the big win!
